Karl Abrahams Rolle im Rank-Konflikt 1924. Eine neue Perspektive (S. 24-43)

Zusammenfassung: Die während der Rank-Krise 1924 vorgebrachten Vorwürfe von Rank und Ferenczi gegen Abrahams angebliche "Intrige" und "Denunziation" etc. prägen das Abraham-Bild bis heute. Die Autorin untersucht ihre Entstehungsgeschichte. Dabei wird der Ablauf der Ereignisse von Januar bis April 1924 auf der Grundlage der brieflichen Quellen nachvollzogen. Jene Vorwürfe bildeten den Höhepunkt einer Entwicklung im sog. "geheimen Komitee", die damals aus verschiedenen Gründen eskalierte. Ein wesentlicher Faktor war die mehrschichtige Informations- und Kommunikationsstruktur. Der Brief an Freud, in dem Abraham seine Kritik an Rank formulierte, gipfelnd in einem Vergleich mit Jung, erweist sich als Antwort auf eine Aufforderung Freuds. Abrahams durchgängiges Bemühen, den Konflikt im Komitee selbst zu klären, das in der bisherigen Forschung übersehen wurde, ging in der emotionalen Dynamik des Gruppenprozesses unter.

Summary: The role of Karl Abraham in the Rank crisis of 1924. A new perspective. Up to this day Abraham's image is tainted by the accusations of "intrigue" and "denunciation" etc. launched by Rank and Ferenczi against him in early 1924. The author examines the origin of these accusations, retracing the events of January to April 1924 with the help of both circular letters and private correspondence. They were the climax of certain developments within the so-called "Secret Committee" which, for a number of reasons, escalated at that time. One essential factor was the multi-layered structure of the Committee's information and communication system. The letter to Freud, in which Abraham formulated his criticism of Rank, culminating in a comparison with Jung, proves to be an answer to a request by Freud. Abraham's constant efforts to solve the conflict within the Committee, an aspect ignored in previous research, was lost in the emotional dynamics of the group process.
