Die Causa Zentralblatt. Machtstrukturen der frühen psychoanalytischen Community am Beispiel des Kampfes um ein bedeutendes Publikationsorgan (S. 163-178)

Zusammenfassung: Macht existiert überall und in jeder Beziehung zwischen Menschen. Je umfangreicher das Netz der sozialen Beziehungen ist, desto komplexer sind auch die Machtstrukturen. Und nicht selten kommt es dabei zu Konflikten und Machtkämpfen. Ein solches komplexes Machtnetz ist die psychoanalytische Bewegung der beginnenden 1910er-Jahre, die von zahlreichen Veränderungen wie der Gründung mehrerer Publikationsorgane und Konflikten wie denen Freuds mit Adler, Stekel oder Jung geprägt ist. Damals wurde das Zentralblatt als psychoanalytische Monatsschrift gegründet. Anhand der Geschehnisse rund um die kurze Existenz der Zeitschrift – mit den drei Schwerpunkten: Gründung, Freud-Adler-Kontroverse, Ausstieg Freuds als Herausgeber bzw. Stekels aus der WPV – werden formelle und informelle Machtstrukturen der psychoanalytischen Community in ihrer Anfangszeit betrachtet.

Summary: The cause of the Zentralblatt. Power structures in the early psychoanalytic community, as exemplified by the struggle about an important periodical. Power exists everywhere and in every relationship between people. The more extensive the network of social relationships, the more complex are the power structures. Not infrequently, this leads to conflicts and power struggles. Such a complex network of power is the psychoanalytic movement of the early 1910s, which was characterized by changes such as the establishment of several periodicals and conflicts such as those between Freud, Adler, Stekel, or Jung. During that time, the Zentralblatt was founded as a psychoanalytic monthly journal. Based on the events surrounding its short existence – focusing on its foundation, the Freud-Adler controversy, and finally Freud’s resignation as editor and Stekel’s withdrawal from the WPV – the formal and informal power structures of the psychoanalytic community in its early days are examined.
